There are quite a number of additional rec.photo.other
newsgroups covering a variety of topics that maybe of interest.
After joining one of the newsgroups try and find the FAQ (frequently
asked questions) for the newsgroup. Generally these are posted periodically to each

Setting up Your Newsreader
Your ISP should have provided you with information regarding accessing
newsgroups, in particular the name of the NNTP News Server.
| Microsoft Outlook Express |
Select the menu items Tools, Accounts, Add ..., News then follow the
prompts using the information from your ISP when asked for News (NNTP)
Server. |
| Netscape Navigator |
Select the menu items Communicator, Newsgroups. In Communicator
select News in the left hand pane and right mouse click on it. Select
Subscribe to newsgroups ... and when you can click the Add Server
button. Now follow the prompts. |
News reader access to newsgroups automatically threads images to the
discussion topics, marks messages as read/unread and allows you to add watches. A
sample view follows.

Accessing Newsgroups through your Browser
In our opinion accessing groups through a web browser is vastly
inferior to a Newsreader. We do suggest you make the effort to set one up.
The Google groups engine: < http://groups.google.com/>
provides browser access to newsgroups.
Finding Groups and Searching Messages
To find a group on a particular topic or search for answers on a
particular subject, you can search using the Google groups engine: < http://groups.google.com/>
