Internet Marketing: Traffic Overview
|
This page is designed to provide a high level overview of the web site operation. There are
likely to be things on this page that get your attention. Other pages can be used for a drill down
analysis when seeking further detail.
Each graph is customized to the needs of the site in question though there are many graphs that
are likely to be common to all sites.
|
This graph shows the weekly visitors or browser sessions. The bottom axis is week no
in the year. There are no artifial inflators of sessions (search engine traffic
etc). The count represents real visitors to the web site.
The traffic pattern shows Pay-Per-Click search engines being used up until week
20/03 after which these were being turned off. Weeks 26 to 28 were partial recording
only with Active Tracking turned off while it under went an upgrade. From week 29 a
search engine optimisation program commenced.
Additionally from week 29/03 the conversion count per week is shown in green. The
overlayed red line shows the amount of traffic from repeat visits.

This graph shows the traffic from all referrers.

Search engine traffic ultimately depends on the ranking you have in the search
engine for specific phrases. This graph shows the top 20 search phrases that are
generating the traffic together with their conversion ratio and conversion count.
Low conversion ratios for keywords indicates either a search hit being gained on
inappropriate keywords or something wrong with the target page.
The keyword phrases used are converted to lower case, numbers without periods are
stripped, single character words such as 'a' are removed and the words are then
sorted into alphabetic order. Thus 'A Slide Show Maker' is converted to
'maker show slide'. It is done to normalize the keywords so that they
can be grouped and counted.
|
|
The top 20 entry pages are show together with conversion ratios (scaled x 10) and
conversion count. Ideally your highest traffic pages should have the highest
conversion ratio.
The page photoalbumdownload.htm has a comparably high conversion ratio. It is the
main software download page and has probably been book-marked by CyPics users and could
be expected to have a high conversion ratio.
The Conversion Analysis, Web Page Performance, Search Engine Traffic and Search
Engine Keywords all have more information on conversions and conversion ratios.
